Hanna Risku and Daniela Schlager were happy to be part of the 10th EST Congress in Oslo (21-25 June 2022), hosted by the Oslo Metropolitan University and the University of Oslo. They gave a talk entitled “The Social Construction of Translation Expertise in the Language Industry”. It focused on a qualitative approach to investigate translation expertise in the workplace. Theoretical and methodological considerations were complemented by selected findings of a recent interview study, showing how expertise constructions become manifest in the criteria for hiring in-house translators.
