Tampere University recently hosted the Doctoral and Teacher-Training Translation Studies Summer School (DOTTSS) from 12 to 22 June 2023, with Hanna Risku as the Guest Professor for the event.
The two-week summer school brought together researchers and teachers in the field of translation and interpreting. The aim was to promote high-level research and provide intensive training for current and future translation studies researchers. The programme also provided in-service training for teachers of translation at various higher education institutions.
DOTTSS was a collaborative effort between Translation Studies research institutions representing different cultures with a strong tradition of training doctoral students in Translation and Interpreting Studies.
Participants had access to a comprehensive programme covering a wide range of topics. The summer school provided valuable stimulus and support for independent research projects, as well as professional development opportunities for translation teachers. A particular highlight was the haiku workshop, where everyone presented their research projects in haiku.
In conclusion, the DOTTSS 2023 Summer School was a successful gathering that facilitated collaboration, knowledge exchange and advancement in the field of Translation Studies. For more information on the summer school, please visit the official website.
