The November issue of the Newsletter of the European Society for Translation Studies (EST) contains an article co-authored by the Socotrans research team.
This article advocates for a shift in Translation Studies research towards an emic perspective on translation expertise, emphasizing the importance of ethnographic methods to understand how expertise is perceived and practiced in authentic workplace contexts. The authors introduce their FWF-funded project, Rethinking Translation Expertise (RETREX), which employs ethnographic approaches to explore the social, performative, and situative aspects of expertise in translation workplaces.
