International guest researchers

The socotrans research group is happy to welcome our two guest researchers Cristina Plaza-Lara (Universidad de Málaga) and Aurélien Riondel (Université de Genève).

Cristina Plaza-Lara holds a Translation and Interpreting degree from the University of Málaga in English and German (2008). She was also granted a Master's degree in Translation, Cultural Mediation and Interpreting. She received her Ph.D. in Translation and Interpreting from the University of Málaga in July 2014. She wrote her doctoral thesis about the training of computer aided translation tools. She is presently Production Manager at Nóvalo, developing translation, edit and coordination tasks in the technical and scientific area using English and German as working languages. She is also lecturer at the Translation and Interpreting Department at the University of Malaga. She teaches translation of specialised texts in German and Spanish.

Aurélien Riondel has been a research and teaching assistant in the French Unit of the Translation Department since October 2017. He holds a BA in History and Film Studies, a BA in Multilingual Communication and an MA in Translation (“Translation Studies” concentration). He is an editorial assistant for the journal Parallèles and a member of Transius and the European Society for Translation Studies (EST). His PhD focuses on translation revision and, more specifically, on representations of the relationship between translator and reviser. Its provisional title is “La relation traducteur-réviseur dans différents contextes professionnels : entre absence de contact et partenariat”. Outside of his academic activities, Aurélien Riondel also works as a freelance translator. He is a certified member of ASTTI, the main Swiss professional association in the field, and translates for institutional clients and associations, mostly from German to French.
